Nobody will argue with you if you claim that Alsace makes the best gewürztraminers anywhere. While just about everything else in the world of wine is disputable, the supremacy of Alsace gewürztraminer is unassailable. Of course, you might not be a fan of this extravagantly scented love-it-or-hate-it variety, but that’s another matter.
No other region in the world can match Alsace for explosively spicy, fruity gewürzes. A good Alsace gewürztraminer combines aromas and flavors of citrus and tropical fruits, rose petal, lichee, sweet brown spices (the gewürz prefix in German means spicy) and grilled bacon or smoked meat. While some wines tend to be more floral and others more fruit-driven, most examples of both types are spicy, aromatic, flavorful, low in acidity and rather full-bodied. Floral gewürzes are usually lighter and more delicate while fruitier versions are more often thick, even oily in texture. Since each producer tends to make one or the other style, knowing a little bit about the maker—and your own preferences, of course—will go a long way toward ensuring that you select the right wines for you.
This pleasant medium bodied wine is characterized by red fruits, blackberries, raspberries and cherries. Silky tanins lightly underlined by woody notes give the wine softness and length.
Bordeaux has a cool marine coastal climate, with mild weather and no dry season. Bordeaux reds tend to be lower in alcohol and are slightly lighter in body.
Stylistically, they exhibit more nuanced flavors and less up-front fruit. Sophisticated and elegant, they pair well with game meats, roast lamb, or hearty beef stews.
Montagnac Cabernet Sauvignon is made by the co-operative Les Vignobles Montaganc located between Beziers and Montpellier in the Languedoc Roussillon. The co-operative was built in Montagnac in 1937 and the vineyards stretch from the banks of Thau Lagoon to the foothills of the mountains on the right bank of the River Hérault where the ancient river bed stones are similar to those of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. These “Marine” vineyards on the edge of the Thau Lagoon are amongst the oldest on the Mediterranean; they are crossed by the Roman highway – the Via Domitienne and are close to the historic ports of Sète and Agde.
Montagnac vineyardsMontagnac Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich ruby red and accompanies grilled meats, particularly steak, duck, game, rich casseroles, Italian meat pasta dishes and Greek moussaka.
The Vignobles Montagnac are located in the Hérault, 15 kilometers from Montpellier, on the edge of the Mediterranean. 750 growers cultivate and vinify 2220 hestares on two sites : Montagnac and Loupian. Annual production is 150,000 hectoliters (1,9 million cases).
Historically, it is the largest unit of production in the region. The quality of the wines comes from the diversity of the soils which stretch from the Thau lake to the valley of the Hérault.
The whole is dominated by the atmosphere of a Mediterranean climate, which is ver y well suited to vine cultivation.
The geological layers alternate between ancient alluvial matter, soils of volcanic origin, molasses and chalky marl with red nodules which are speciﬁc to the terroir.
Grown on sunny slopes it has fruity notes, is mouth ﬁlling, fresh and complex.This is the perfect expression of a Mediterranean Chardonnay, with its fruit drawn from
ver y ripe grapes, whilst retaining freshness and live lines. Not at all heavy, this Chardonnay from the south has an elegant balance which makes it very palatable.

Chateau Durand Laplagne is a perfect expression of Bordeaux Merlot. Elegant and concentrated with a full fruity nose and a hint of spice. The chateau is located in the smaller St Emilion satellite of Puisseguin.
This 25-hectare estate is located on the slopes just outside the town of St-Emilion, and is owned by Escure family, who teamed up with the head winemaker of Château Bellegrave in the 1990s to bring their vineyards and winery into the modern era.
A rounded and classy Merlot-dominated blend, offering a soft, plump-feeling palate of ripe bramble and plum, with mature pruney notes and hints of earth and pine forest on the nose.
This sleeper from the Médoc region of Bordeaux is the second wine of La Roque de By. It is 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Super sweet fruit flavors fill this true-to-type Claret! And in 2009 it's an unbelievable value. Lush blackberry and cassis aromas follow to the palate culminating in a lingering finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Blends - Cabernet Sauvignon has come a long way from its role as a blending varietal, however dominant, in the wines of Bordeaux. Today it is the most planted red varietal in the world. Identified as a descendent of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, the late-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon needs to be planted in warmer climates to fully ripen. Its small berries can easily be identified for their distinctive blue color, thick skins and high tannins. And while the varietal has its own definitive characteristics: green pepper-like aromas and black currant flavors among them, it is perhaps most prized for its ability to convey terroir, vintage and winemaking. A relatively new varietal, Cabernet Sauvignon started making inroads into the wines of the Médoc and Graves in the late-18th century. Today it is also dominant in the up-and-coming Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux and can also be found in Southwest France. It is the companion varietal to Sangiovese in Italy's Super Tuscans and is planted all over Europe, stretching to lesser-known winegrowing regions like Russia and Lebanon. In the Americas Cabernet Sauvignon has found champions in every nook and cranny of California and among winemakers in Washington, where it complements plantings of Merlot. In South America, Cab thrives in Chile, but can also be found in smaller amounts in Argentina and even in Mexico.
Château Pouyanne is a family owned property located in the commune of Budos, at about 40 km South-East from Bordeaux. Vines are planted on a very beautiful soil of Graves, where the stone is always coated with clay and sand.
Thanks to this famous soil on which our vines are growing, we can produce very flexible and very aromatic white and red wines.
Dense reddy-black. Nose is ripe and sweet, with brambly fruit. Very rounded on the palate, with broad, black, gummy fruit and a good backbone of tannins. The finish is long.

Les Vignobles Gonfrier were qualified as using «Agriculture Raisonnée» in June 2005. This is an approach that concerns all the sectors of the activity, from planting the vine to the finished product in its packaging. The principal goal is to limit the impact our working methods we have on the environment.
Straw-yellow colour with shiny tints. A very fruity nose with aromas of peach and exotic fruits. A lovely wine which has a supple and soft finish. This is a wine that goes as well with fish and sea food and goat’s cheese.

The harvest is pressed after some hours of maceration. The fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts and kept at a low temperature for 8 to 10 days depending on the vintage.
